On Nov. 11, 2025 at La Compagnia Cinema, the special edition of the LABA Big Screen dedicated to Federico Fellini was attended by more than 400 students from the Academy, in the presence of Florence’s Councillor for Culture, special guest Gianfranco Angelucci who is featured in the documentary “Amarfellini” coordinated and directed by Prof. Veronica Citi made with the participation of about 50 students from Laba Florence.

The documentary dedicated to the great master’s work was made over seven months during which the students immersed themselves in a work of research and rediscovery of Fellini’s Cinema, the goal of the project itself, through collective viewing of the films, lectures (with the participation of the aforementioned Angelucci and RUFA’s Raffaele Simongini) and reading of a substantial bibliography.

The process of knowledge and reflection flows into the filmic restitution through interviews and more classically narrative moments. The filming of the documentary (under the direction of photography by Luca Maxia and with vfx effects by Prof. R. Cafarelli of Laba Florence) took place in a number of locations Florence, where the Accademia is based, in Viareggio and at the city of Rimini (Fellini Museum, cinema Fulgor).

In addition to the documentary, the screening featured short films by students from the Photography and Graphic Design departments inspired by Fellini’s work, again the result of a process of discovery and revisiting. “Evanescence,” “Effervescent Pop,” “Spes Vana,” “Veritas No Verum,” “The Hours,” “Chess.”

To close, a short fiction film made collectively by the Cinema address of LABA FIRENZE coordinated and directed by Lorenzo Corvino. The short film was a test case to pay homage to the Maestro’s visual style, an important opportunity to reread his cinematography in the light of new contemporary languages.
