Fellini and beyond
The production of the short film “Fellini and Beyond” originates from a research-driven process aimed at examining the dialogue between the work of Federico Fellini and a selection of contemporary filmmakers who have absorbed and reinterpreted his legacy. The project is structured as an educational experience through which students engaged critically with Fellini’s filmography, analyzing his visual language, narrative structures, and cultural impact within international cinema.
The research focused on four directors: David Lynch and Wes Anderson, examined by students of Accademia Poliarte, and Emir Kusturica and Bob Fosse, explored by RUFA students. This structure enabled a comparative approach across different cinematic languages, emphasizing the persistence of Fellini’s imagery in contemporary contexts.
The project was enriched by interviews with figures including Gianfranco Angelucci, Francesca Fabbri Fellini and Ilaria Feole. These contributions provided critical insights into Fellini’s work and its legacy. The documentary was presented on June 12, 2025 at the Italian Cultural Institute in Prague. The final output will be made available for educational purposes to partner institutions, positioning the project as both a learning outcome and a tool for cultural dissemination.
