Tatto

Project

Design

“Tatto” is another GTA Contest finalist project. The author is Francesco Borghi a student at NABA.

Its design stems from the need to redefine the concept of an object and space dedicated to wellness and care, overcoming the traditional image of environments characterized by neutral colors and aseptic shapes. The goal is to create solutions that not only improve the quality of life for people with multiple sclerosis, but also integrate harmoniously into the home environment without being intrusive or medicalized.

Designed objects and spaces should no longer look humble and functional at the expense of aesthetics, but should also visually appeal and contribute to psychological well-being, becoming an integral and pleasant part of everyday life.

The solution developed in the first phase of the project takes the form of modular and modular ceramic tiles that blend seamlessly into the environment, derived from the combination of shapes on a predefined pattern from which different combinations can be derived according to the need of the environment or individual of the client. These tiles perform both traditional functions, such as shelves or even furniture, and also meet more specific needs related to MS, replacing handles to hold on to or providing useful supports to facilitate movement.

In the second phase of the project, the domestic landscape is repurposed along curved lines, providing the client with total freedom of movement within the rooms. A common element in both phases is the use of color, employed to enhance the well-being of the person living these spaces.
