Stupid Things I Ask Myself Before Falling Asleep

Project

Cinema and Audiovisual

” Stupid Things I Ask Myself Before Falling Asleep ” is a GTA Contest finalist project and bears the form of NABA student Talita Diatto.

Before we fall asleep, between drowsiness and deep sleep, the subconscious emerges and asks us questions that oscillate between the absurd and the existential. The project is an audio-visual short film that explores the chaotic and sincere flow of pre-honirical thoughts: a visual and aural journey into that fragile moment when the unconscious takes voice and the ordinary is transformed into the extraordinary.

Set among domestic spaces and semi-deserted landscapes, the video builds up as a collection of suspended questions that emerged in the silence of the mind; these are flanked by surreal, arbitrary and dreamlike visualizations that embody the absurdity of the unconscious, thanks to an unconventional use of the human figure and its actions.

A narrative voice, human but monotone, accompanies the viewer in a cinematic experience that invites reflection on the unanswered questions that graze us before sleep: a tribute to the extraordinariness of the human and to intimate thought as a universal language, and an invitation to listen to the inner buzz when the world around is silent.
