Euphoria

Project

Visual Arts

” Euphoria “, the project of Filippo Carlo Martini ( a student of Accademia Italiana), tells the stories of transgender women and girls who, by personal choice or for other reasons, have not embarked on a path of hormone therapy for gender affirmation.

The heart of the work is to gather different perspectives of women who do not meet the traditional aesthetic standards of the trans community and who, because of this, often experience discrimination and marginalization.

The project aims to investigate and understand their personal image of femininity, what it means to them to be a woman, and how the lack of a hormone pathway has affected their lives from family, sexual and social perspectives.

The decision to tackle such a sensitive topic, and one that does not directly belong to the author’s experience, stems from a desire to give voice to a little-told reality: a stage of transition that is rarely talked about and that deserves attention, listening and narrative space.

The work, along with all the GTA Contest finalists, will be on display at the MAXXI Corner from December 5 to 8 (free admission).
