In the context of WP2 of the Afam Grand Tour, with the aim of enhancing the made in Italy, LABA Brescia is organizing a scientific conference related to the use of marble and stone materials in art and design. The conference, entitled: ‘ The Shapes of Marble. Made in Italy between Art and Design ‘, will be held on Thursday, March 13, at the Santa Giulia Auditorium in Brescia, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

——

The initiative is accredited to the issuance of n.7 cfp for Architects P.P.C.

——

The conference is developed along three strands of scientific and artistic analysis and research, for which three panels have been organized:

  1. The sustainability and processing techniques of marble and stone materials
  2. The use of marble and stone materials in the context of Interior and Project Design
  3. Design and research interpreted by students

——

The first two macro-themes are developed through talks by experts in the field, while the third panel presents students’ artistic research.

The first panel examines modern processing techniques for marble and stone materials in general, with specific attention to the problem of sustainability, recycling and reuse of dust in artistic and industrial processing. The scientific objective of the second panel is to study the current state of artistic productions in the field of design, focusing on those productions that make use of Italian marble, to analyze the relationship between the material component and the artistic and instrumental value of the product. The third panel honors students’ artistic research, presenting selected works in which marble is a central design element in the fields of Project and Land Design.
