NABA, New Academy of Fine Arts presents Story First: What do we do with this Artificial Intelligence?

On April 11 at NABA Campus in Rome and April 12 at the Casa del Cinema in Rome, two days of events, workshops and talks on the costs and benefits of generative AI, with the aim of raising critical awareness and reflecting on its potential future use, including dramaturgical performances, stand-up comedy, a panel discussion on AI and writing implementations in education, the presentation of the state of the art on copyright and Writers Guild Italia’s observatory on the topic, as well as specific workshops and talks.

Almost 70 years after the birth of the discipline of artificial intelligence, we are now in the midst of a wave of exploration of the technological development and use of generative AI and its applications. Its discussed possible impact on the creative industries and the skills of young creatives divides between enthusiasm and skepticism, but in the meantime, something is already being transformed in production contexts.

Starting from the “Story First” container of NABA’s Master’s in Screenwriting for Series, and in collaboration with RUFA and IED, we question the development of writing for audiovisuals and how to train future professionals and talents in the multimedia content supply chain in the face of the development of AI. In this context, the event “Story First: what do we do with this Artificial Intelligence?” was born, which is intended to be a discussion with professionals from the audiovisual sector and representatives of the project’s partner academies, open to the public and in particular to students.
