Dissemination event

The project stems from a fundamental reflection: what makes an artist eternal? What transforms a talent into a genius capable of dialoguing with every era, arousing emotions and questions that are always relevant? Federico Fellini represents an emblematic answer to these questions. His cinema, poetic, visionary and deeply human, marked an era and at the same time surpassed it, establishing itself as a shared imaginative and symbolic heritage.

Underlying the initiative is the conviction that Fellini’s language, while rooted in the cultural and historical context of twentieth-century Italy, possesses an extraordinary evocative power and ability to interpret reality that still resonate today. His focus on humanity in its most contradictory forms – from the outcasts to the intellectuals, from the insane to the saints – proves more relevant than ever.

For this reason, the project is not configured as a simple commemoration, but as a real laboratory of cultural and artistic experimentation and research, aimed at creating a direct dialogue between Fellini’s legacy and contemporary sensibilities. Special attention has been paid to the new generations of creatives: students from three institutions of excellence in the field of visual arts – RUFA – Rome University of Fine Arts, Poliarte of Ancona and LABA of Florence.

The initiative will be held April 14-16 at the Cinema Aquila in Rome and will consist of days of discussion and screenings. During the event, Prof. Raffaele Simonini ‘s research dedicated to Federico Fellini will be presented, along with a selection of short films, documentaries, animations and experimental audiovisual projects developed as part of the project.

The works presented are the result of workshops and training courses led by filmmakers, teachers and industry professionals, with the aim of stimulating in young authors a creative confrontation with Fellini’s imagery. The languages used range from classic filmic storytelling to emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence and computer animation.

The project thus aims to promote not only the knowledge of the work of a master of Italian cinema, but also the ability of new generations to reinterpret its spirit with contemporary tools, updating it without betraying its poetic substance. A concrete opportunity to enhance Italian educational excellence in the audiovisual sector and to demonstrate that Federico Fellini’s cinema continues to be, today as yesterday, a space open to interpretation, discovery and creation.
