Les Mères

Project

Visual Arts

The project bears the signature of Lorraina Favaron, a student at NABA.

” Les Mères ” explores the delicacy of an everyday and universal gesture: that of a mother covering her sleeping child.

A simple, almost imperceptible gesture, but one capable of encapsulating all the meaning of silent love, care and thoughtfulness that is often expressed away from sight.

The work stems from the artist’s desire to pay tribute to the women in her life – her mother, aunt and sister – who have supported and encouraged her in her dreams and ambitions, accompanying her with dedication and unobtrusive strength.
In that gesture of protection, Lorraina acknowledges the sacrifices and affection that, as is often the case, remain invisible but deeply present.

Through Les Mères, the artist thanks her roots and the female figures who shaped her, reminding her of the part of herself that belongs to Cameroon and gave her awareness and identity.

The work thus becomes a dedication to mothers and their origins, but also a tribute to the beauty of simple gestures, those almost invisible ones that hold deep meaning.

Les Mères, along with all the finalist works from the GTA Contest, will be exhibited at MAXXI in Rome from December 5 to 8, 2025, during the AFAM Grand Festival, The Concluding Event of the AFAM Grand Tour.
